Doctrinal Statement

DOCTRINAL STATEMENT

We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory, that this triune God created all, upholds all and governs all. (Matt 28:19, Is 40:12, Is 46:8-11, Col 1:15-20)

We believe that the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God, fully inspired and the infallible rule of faith and practice. (2 Tim 3:14-17, Rom 15:4, James 1:22)

We believe in God the Father, infinite, personal, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love; and that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, that He hears and answers prayer and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ. (Matt 6:9, Rom 11:33-39, Ps 138:5-6, Matt 7:11, Is 55:6-7)

We believe in Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings, His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people and personal, visible return to earth. We believe that in His first coming Jesus inaugurated the fulfilment of the Kingdom of God on earth. The victorious redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides freedom from the power of the enemy. (John 1:14-18, Luke 1:18-20, Heb 4:15, Rom 5:8, 1 Cor 15:1-8, Eph 1:20, 1 Thess 4:16, Mark 1:14-15)

We believe in the Holy Spirit, who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgement and to regenerate, sanctify and empower for ministry all who believe in Christ. We believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Jesus Christ and that He is an abiding helper, teacher and guide. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and in the exercise of all Biblical gifts of the Spirit. (John 15:26, John 16:8, Titus 3:5, Acts 1:8, Rom 8:9, Eph 1:13, John 14:16, 1 Cor 12:4-11, John 16:13)

We believe that humankind was created in the image of God to know and enjoy Him, yet we wilfully rejected the Lordship and glory of God for which we were intended. Because of this sickness, death and judgement entered the world and now creation experiences the effects and consequences of sin. 9Is 53:6, Rom 3:23, Rom 6:23)

We believe that we are saved by God's grace, through faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ. Anyone can be restored to fellowship with God, through repenting, believing and receiving Jesus as their Saviour and Lord. We are regeneratds, justified and adopted as His sons and daughters as we enter the Kingdom of God. (John 1:12, 1 Peter 3:18, Eph 2:8-9)

We believe that the church consists of all who put their faith in Jesus Christ. He gave the church the ordinances of baptism and communion.  The communion table is open to all believers. The church exists to carry on the ministry of Jesus Christ and further advance His kingdom by undoing the works of the enemy, preaching and living the good news of God's love, discipling the nations, baptising and teaching them to love and obey God. (Matt 28:19-20, 1 Cor 11:23-26, Luke 3:3)

We believe in the laying on of hands for empowering of the Holy Spirit, for the receiving of gifts of the Spirit, to minister supernaturally and for empowering of the church to be witnesses. (Acts 13:3, Mark 6:5, 1 Tim 4:14)

We believe in the ever increasing government of God, the personal, visible appearing of Christ to earth and the consummation of His kingdom, in the resurrection of the body, the final judgement and eternal blessing of the righteous and the eternal punishment of the wicked. (Acts 1:11, Matt 25:31, 1 Cor 15:20-24, Rev 20:11, 21:8)
