Trent's weekly muse - 10th Feb - He delights in us

Everyone will share the story of your

wonderful goodness; they will sing with joy

about your righteousness.

Ps 145:7

Last Sunday morning I shared with you how I awoke on Saturday night with the phrase “possessed by promise”. And the reality is that each one of us needs to be possessed by the promise of His eternal goodness into every area of our lives. We need to feed our spirit man on who God is. God is looking for a people who will be expectant for what He has promised. Psalm 31:19 tells us that God stores up goodness to pour out on us. It is time the church represented God as He is.

We are His visual aid to the world and should reflect His goodness.

God is amazingly loving and kind and gracious. He is deeply affectionate towards His people. He has set His heart upon us and simply will not be deflected from the outpouring of His love (Deut 10:15). He sets us apart for His own possession.

There is a joy, a pleasure, an enjoyment and a delight that the Lord finds in us. This is mirrored in the face of Jesus and the Presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

The real strength of the Christian life comes from our walking into the fullness of this reality. Every encounter that we have with when we pray, when we read the bible when we worship is to that we can feed our spirit man on this goodness and be transformed into his image. The testimonies that we have of His affection empower us to walk with Him in a manner consistent with His Nature. When we know what God is truly like, then we are able to walk with Him in the beauty of Who He is for us.

When my heart begins to be overwhelmed by anxieties it is God's delight in me that releases necessary and valuable comfort .

Do you know that God is greatly delighted in you – There is pleasure in all the Lord's interactions with us. The Father is greatly pleased about Jesus. In putting us into Christ, He has joyfully made us vulnerable and susceptible to His delight. He loves us as He loves Jesus.

Delight is one of the chief expressions of His heart towards us in Christ. Whenever we see the words gladness, joy, cheer, rejoice, glory in, and delight; it is always expressive of His pleasure in us and the deep love He has for His involvement with us in the Beloved.

Life in Christ is to be fundamentally enjoyed! We relish our interaction with Jesus. We revel in the power of the Holy Spirit. We are captivated by the Lord because He has captured our hearts. Each day then brings a fresh determination to abide in His joy and delight. To allow ourselves to be touched afresh by His joy in us.  We learn to live in that place of the delight of the Lord and to be able live out of delight for Him

Take delight in the LORD,  and he will give you your heart’s desires and dreams. Psalm 37:4. When we connect with His delight in us, we rejoice in all that He is towards us. His delight is the platform for our worship. When we have a revelation that we are His Beloved then we behave as one wonderfully loved.

He led me to a broad place of safety; he rescued me because he delights in me. 2 Sam 22:20. Finding the place of fullness in His affection and promise provides us with a broad place in which to live securely in His love and to have an expectation of His favour in all circumstances.

Grace and Peace
