Trent's weekly muse 28th Oct - It's going to rain, sell your umbrella

It is going to rain - sell your umbrella!

I have been reading on one of my favourite topics – revival and renewals. And I think one of the saddest things is when people miss out on what God is doing. It is so easy for us to unconsciously protect ourselves from an outpouring of God. We demonstrate caution when we should be wholeheartedly embracing and even more so, pursuing that which God is doing .We look from the sidelines instead of jumping into action. We are passive in our worship rather than engaged.

We must never, never be prudent about the Holy Spirit. There is no discretion when it comes to God.  2 Corinthians 1 tells us that everything in Him is “Yes and amen in Christ”, toward us. We need the same response to Him. Again and again we have had the prophetic promise of rain of God touching us. When we have the promise of the glorious rain of heaven – the former rain, the latter rain, any rain – immediately get rid of everything that would prevent you from soaking in His presence.

Get rid of all the inappropriate mind-sets and attitudes. It is called humbling yourself. Put yourself in a place to receive. Believe simply and expect hugely!

Ask yourself this question: What is stopping you from experiencing a fresh encounter with God?

Always position yourself in that place to receive. It is Gods heart to always, always release blessing but so often we miss out because we have not placed ourselves in that place of bringing our hearts, spirits and minds into focus on what God is doing.

Let me finish with a quote from Graham Cooke -

‎"It is much better to try and to fail than never have the courage to go after something. Too many missed opportunities lead us into the valley of shadow, where we are a pale version of what we could have been. Passivity, procrastination and caution are all forms of regret. It is where we look back at our fainthearted approach to life and discover how timid we have become. It is vital that our past does not become our future or regret will shadow us all our lives."

Our job is not to bring down the strongholds of the enemy.

Our job is to bring down the Presence of God into our midst.
